Thursday morning Selamat Pagi. Here are some pics from our quiet 4km walk along the beach and back along the main Singaraja Rd. Its Galungan day and everything is quiet. Traffic is slow, waves are barely moving, its hot steamy and swoggy.
Gonna make a boat. Gonna add a verandah |
Many boats on the shore, and the peoples houses just up the beach.
Unlike this bloke who is basically a gyppo.
See the umbrella? We both had one, except mine was manly blue, and highlighted with many pink roses. I would have preferred something with guns and ammo but I'm ok with that
On the main road, maybe 500m from the hotel, a Masjid. Many speakers, and quite loud. Now where did I put that missile? The one that automatically homes in on the nearest place of worship. That Monty Python skit couldn't work in Bali, considering each property has approximately 75 temples.
Volcano. Something something Freudian.
Yeah. Guns. Yeah. BB - I think. WTF? Sandy wouldnt let me buy one. Spoilsport
Many hotels are closed, and gradually rotting. This was a back street entrance to something. Might look good if it were photoshopped. Large wifi issues with bloggy. Easier to tether the phone and upload.
So yeah the walk. It was getting progressively swoggier and thunderyer and rain was starting to gently drop in big wet fat drops. I might have to open the umbrella after all. My left knee wasnt coping with steps up, making clicky sensations as we headed back. Dropped into this beachside bar beer and fish and chips which was delicious, fresh tuna. So sweet. Yum.
Its very strange for everything to be shut, we the ones who were out of ordinary as we weren't heading to a ceremony and dressed up to the nines.
And we went back to Rambutan, where I tried to upload yesterdays blog and fight the wifi. Sitting in the cabana the rain is now bucketing down. I noticed a commotion on the pool island. A small goanna/dragon had caught a fledgling chick. So I get up and try to photo it. The goanna wasnt giving up its prey, but did dump it into the pool and tried to swim off. Bad plan lizard face. The lizard cant get out, so I follow it.
I scrape my foot along the bottom of the pool and across a jaggedy piece of sharp glass. Ouch. Two inch long cut on the sole of my foot. Thankfully not deep but close to needing stitches. We brought two first aid kits with us, and staff provided betadine, alcohol solution to tidy the cut up, bandages, tape. My left foot, its ok I have been limping on my left leg for the whole year, I've had plenty of practice. FFS.
The grounds are beautiful. View from the villa verandah. Only six or seven hours rain yesterday.
Front door
Quite comfortable bed, hate the pillow.
Two showers, because.
I am quite impressed with the quality of the zoom of the samsung phone camera. I let the gyppo go.
We have no plan for the next two days. I have a few books to be getting on with, and well why not?
PS
I think I have found the wifi problem.
